The RMH Process

The Rocky Mountain Hydrostatics Remanufacturing Process

RMH sets the standard of remanufacturing to the highest level possible…here's why!

1. Unit is photographed from multiple angles to document how it was configured, and then disassembled completely.

2. Castings are stripped of all paint, acid etched (rust removal), alkaline stabilized (rust prevention), and all threads are chased and cleaned.

3. All parts cleaned in a solvent bath and dried.  The parts are then visually inspected for any wear, and parts that are applicable for measurement are measured with the proper measurement tools.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cylinder Barrel
    • Bores are measured with bore micrometers for size and visually inspected for scratching
    • Driven splines are inspected by pin measurements
    • The “stack-up” dimension is measured
    • The arcuate/porting face is inspected for cavitation
    • The barrel bearing land/race is inspected
  • Pistons/Shoes
    • Inspected visually for scratching
    • Shoe thickness measured for stack-up calculations
    • Shoe balance pad depth for determination for replacement
  • Drive Shaft inspected for stress, cracks, and splines are measured across pins.
  • Port Plate and Creep Plate inspected for cracks, thickness, and parallelism
  • Shoe Retainer inspected for excessive wear where shoes ride, and for cracks, he)at damage, and other dimensions.
  • Stroking Assembly thoroughly inspected for any wear.
  • All controls are thoroughly disassembled and inspected for any signs of wear

4. The technician researches our extensive data-base to determine if any of the following conditions apply:

  • Are there any manufacturer improvements that could be incorporated into the product?
  • Are there any special settings required per the assembly code, the OEM’s specifications, or directly by the customer?
  • Are there any special performance requirements specified in the assembly code, the OEM’s specifications, or directly by the customer?
  • Are there any special customer requirements? Some common special customer requests are: no paint, special long life preservative, special tubing/fittings (CPV Tig welded fittings are common for military products), and custom international crating with “bug free” wood.

5. The parts are pulled from inventory and the unit is re-assembled by a technician trained and certified in the assembly of that specific product.

6. The unit is then tested BEYOND the full manufacturer catalog ratings of flow-rate, pressure, and most importantly, actual case drain leakage flow, and linearity of flow or pressure versus input command. This would apply to hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, HI-IQ, and other proportional controls.

7. The unit is then washed, dried, painted, and identified with a STAINLESS STEEL nameplate. If the product is to be returned to RMH’s inventory as a stocked item, it is kept full of oil, and drained just prior to shipment to a customer.
